City of Perth Parking FAQ

Parking meters are located in pay-by-plate (non-boom gate entry) car parks and on-street bays.

To use the meter:

  1. Enter your vehicle licence plate number: Tap the screen if the meter is in power saver mode. Begin by entering your vehicle’s licence plate number using the keypad on the meter’s screen.
  2. Select Parking Duration: Next, select the amount of time you intend to park within the designated zone's parking time limit. You can adjust the duration by moving the slider on the screen.
  3. Payment: Pay for your parking by either tapping your phone or using your credit or debit card. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the payment process.
  4. Obtain E-Receipt: You can obtain an electronic receipt (e-receipt) at the time of purchase. Scan the QR code displayed on the meter's screen using your smartphone, or download a copy from the myparkingticket.com.au web portal.

Our parking meters are ticketless, so there’s no need to display a ticket on your vehicle dashboard.

Cashless meters: On the cashless meters please use the slider on the screen to increase or decrease the amount of time you would like to park.

Cash and card meters: On the cash accepting meters please press the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons on the screen to increase or decrease the amount of time your would like to park.

Please remember that on-street parking has a minimum $2.00 transaction and non-boom gate car parks have a one hour minimum.

Yes, once you have paid for your parking session you can increase the amount of time you would like to park. Please be aware in on-street bays you can only increase the amount of time up until the maximum time allowed in that zone.

  1. Tap the screen if the meter is in power save mode.
  2. Press the Start button to begin.
  3. Enter your vehicle licence plate number.
  4. Press Next.
  5. The screen will show your current payment and expiry time.
  6. >Press Top up.
  7. Your current expiry is automatically shown, move the slider to increase the payment.
  8. Press Next.
  9. Follow the prompt and tap your credit card, debit card or smart device to pay for your parking.
  10. Once the payment is approved, press Done, or if you require a receipt click ‘E-receipt’ and scan QR code on the screen to be taken to the myparkingticket.com.au website to download the pdf receipt.

If you would prefer to skip the parking meter, you can pay for parking from your phone using the EasyPark App in non-boom gate (pay-by-plate) car parks and on-street parking bays.

To use the EasyPark App simply follow the steps below:

  • Download the EasyPark app from the App Store or Google Play Store
  • Register your details and vehicles with EasyPark,
  • To start parking, open the app, confirm your parking location, ensure you select the correct vehicle and registration and start your parking session
  • Extend your parking session anywhere from your phone, up to the maximum time allowed
  • Don’t forget to end your parking session when you’re ready to leave

Free, all day motorcycle parking may be found at:

  • Mounts Bay Road facility (next to Mitchell Freeway overpass) = 112 bays
  • Nash Street, Northbridge = 22 bays
  • Pier Street, Northbridge = 8 bays

Motorcycle parking fees in City of Perth Parking Car Parks varies according to car park. Please visit the applicable car park page for details or see posted fee signage in the car park.

All on-street motorcycle parking is free. These bays are time limited so please be sure to read the parking signs. If there are no motorcycle specific signs for the motorcycle bay you have parked in, the time limit, and when it applies, can be found on the nearest standard parking sign.

Please be aware that motorcycles and/or scooters are not permitted to park in a motor vehicle bay.

These Car Parks are managed with Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) software. Your vehicle's licence plate will be read and recorded upon approach and the boom gate will automatically lift for your entry. Prior to departure, please visit the payment station, enter your vehicle's licence details and make payment. Upon your vehicle's approach to the exit boom gate, your licence plate will be read and the boom gate will automatically lift to allow exit.

To lodge a refund request for a ticket machine or parking meter fault please email info@cityofperth.wa.gov.au

Please include your name, best work-hours contact number, amount paid, the date, time and location of the transaction, and reason for requesting a refund. For your security, please do not include any credit card information in your email.

For any non-boom gate entry (pay-by-plate) car parks and on-street parking receipts please visit https://myparkingticket.com.au/, enter your car rego and select the date you made payment, you will then be able to download a copy of your receipt.

For any boom-gate car parks please email your request to cpp.inbox@cityofperth.wa.gov.au include your name, best work-hours contact number, amount paid and the date, time and location of the transaction. For your security, please do not include any credit card information in your email.
